Gratitude Journal no. 2

If you’re new here

I decided to challenge myself to publish my personal writing more. From pausing to deliberately reflect to getting more disciplined about creating for myself, I jumped into this goal. For a little more on this journey, check out my first public Gratitude Journal entry.

I am thankful for…

1. my sister by choice, Mara, whom I’ve known for over 35 years. Always up for a show and to talk about music, travel, philosophy, and about our wonderful families. I’m grateful to have someone in my life who sometimes knows me better than myself. Consistently curious, I’m excited for our future adventures and conversations.

2. A supportive husband. It’s not always easy to navigate our relationship. We are life partners, friends, lovers, co-founders, roommates, coworkers, co-parents, and sometimes pain points to each other. It’s nice when we hit a stride and work as a team on all fronts at the same time.

3. Progress, not perfection. When stalling to actualize this post today, I had to remind myself that growth is about working through little failures - like failing to do this as a daily gratitude journal on the 2nd day of setting a goal to do it. If the goal is an appropriate challenge, the learner will most likely not be immediately successful. You have to wobble on that bike for a few hours (or days or weeks) before you are steady. You have to ride for a few months (or years) to ride without hands. The learning is in the struggle and I’m thankful I understand that.
