Gratitude Journal no. 13

March 31, 2024

I am thankful for…

1. Perspective shifts. Life changes like births, deaths, new jobs, new partners, injuries, sicknesses, misfortunes, awards and bonuses can cause large shifts. Small novel experiences also give my brain space. Almost every time I travel some where new, enjoy a new meal/restaurant, try a new craft or sport like glass blowing or boxing, take a walk on a path I’ve never traveled, see a photograph of myself taken by my daughter, I find myself reflecting and collecting data. Who am I, now? What am I feeling, now? How have I changed because of this moment/experience? How am I the same of more of what I was before? I’m thankful

2. Early bedtimes. I don’t always have the luxury to sleep more than 8 hours. I’m often working late and up before I’m totally ready for it. When I can put myself to bed by a full 2 hours before I normal do, I feel myself catch that earlier sleep wave and am renewed. I’m thankful when I can find a day or two in a month to hit the hay early.

3. Clean food. I cannot always afford the money or the time to get the best possible food into my body. The times I am able to, I’m grateful. I feel better. Food is fuel and clean fuel is better for me.

If you’re new here

I decided to challenge myself to publish my personal writing more. From pausing to deliberately reflect to getting more disciplined about creating for myself, I jumped into this goal. For a little more on this journey, check out my first public Gratitude Journal entry.
